They made quite a statement, being such a dramatic departure from traditional wooden lecterns. The USA led the way with selling all-acrylic podiums and they started to be seen in front of leading evangelists and preachers everywhere.
Regardless of whether or not people liked the look, they had one major flaw. Similar to their all-wooden cousins, they were extremely heavy. They were virtually impossible to move without a team of strong helpers! Moving acrylic podiums also cause them to eventually break because they generally have glue joints and these glue joints are particularly brittle.
That is why our range of lecterns have been designed by Stephen to have portability with strength as a major factor. A lectern needs to look good and function well but in order to work in range of settings, it also needs to be easily moved. We have a lot of customers who set up and break down their churches every week (i.e. they meet in a school hall.) Therefore, their lectern needs to be easily dismantled or simply put into the back of a car. Our Arc range of lecterns are excellent for this. Click here to check out the range.
